The National Weather Service Buffalo office issues marine forecasts for 9 open-lake zones covering the water from Niagara east to the St. Lawrence River, with predictions for wind, waves, and hazards. This page links to the full NWS marine forecast text so boaters can plan their trip safely. If wave or wind data from the buoy is temporarily missing, this page notes it rather than showing outdated numbers. NWS Buffalo (BUF) issues marine forecasts for 9 open lake zones covering Lake Ontario: LOZ030 (Lower Niagara River), LOZ042 through LOZ045 (nearshore, Niagara River to the St. Lawrence River), and LOZ062 through LOZ065 (the same stretch beyond 5 nautical miles offshore, out to the US-Canada border).
